update on baby j

baby J is now 4.5 months old and he's already showing us his stubbornness.... i have no idea who he gets it from either....... really..... i'm the the MOST easy going person there is.................... hehehhehee ANYWAYS, he is incredibly strong now, can hold on to things with his death grip, and refuses to turn his head towards me when he's focused on something else. examples are: LOVES staring at the power outlet in the bathroom and REFUSES to turn his head away from it; LOVES staring at his reflection in the mirror while i'm washing his hair and if i turn his head the other way, he screams until he's allowed to turn back (and its a MAJOR struggle to turn his head since the little guy is determined to look one way only); will not let go of certain objects that he wants to suck on and if i happen to get it out of his mouth, will immediately put it back in; and will hold onto my fingers during bottle time and squeeze until i lose all feeling in the finger unless i let him grab the bottle himself (i hate this b/c he knocks it out of his mouth and cries until he gets it back). he also likes to suck on things that i don't want him to. its like he knows how mommy feels and goes right back to that object. he has an exersaucer/activity thingie that he sits in and can go from "station" to "station". one of the items on the table is a hand puppet.since most of his toys are hand me downs, there is still old spit up or stains on some of the toys. i don't mind him sucking on toys that i can wash/clean/sterilize but that puppet is not removable, thereby making it unwashable. he never really paid attention to the puppet until 2 days ago during my dinner. he kept trying to suck on the yucky puppet so i turned him to another toy but he KEPT going back to that puppet. i ended up cutting the puppet off the stand. gross....

well he has hit a few milestones over the past month. he can roll over both ways, reaches for stuff and brings it towards him, follows sounds and recognizes voices, sleeps through most of the night (9:30pm to a little before 6 am) while only waking up once or twice for a diaper change (most nights), smiles and laughs at us, and he's desperately trying to crawl. he will bring his arms forward to reach out to help himself move forward and pumps his legs to move forward. it is the CUTEST thing ever but scary. he almost dived off the couch doing that once. he notices if he is left alone in a room and will cry out (no tears) until someone comes back in but does reward us with a smile. he's been babbling alot more, can blow raspberries, recognizes his bottle of boricha, hates the aspirator, and thinks accents are HILARIOUS. oh and he loves when the hubs puts him in the baby Bjorn (facing out) and walks around. we think he thinks he's walking or something. weird kiddo... anyhoo, he may push me to my limits of my energy and patience but he makes it so worth it when he smiles at me. oh and he hates mondays....
