baby!

our little one surprised us 10 days early! he came on October 23 at 5:58pm. i have tons of pictures but am too lazy to post right now... sorry. i need to resize them first.

so this is a brief summary of our labor story....
i woke up at 3:00am on Friday October 23 to use the restroom and felt like there was a little liquid coming out. i went back to bed and felt a gush of liquid at 3:15am. i woke up and told joey that i thought my water broke. we called the doctor on call and he advised us to go to the hospital. i wasn't having contractions yet so i decided to brush my teeth and hair and change before heading out. we got to the hospital and were admitted pretty quickly since the nurse saw how my water had broken. we were admitted a little before 4:00am and then the party started. i was only 1 cm dilated but the contractions had begun... those things are very painful. i got my epidural at 8:15am and they hooked me up to pictocin. it took HOURS for me to get to 5cm. i pretty much slept and watched dvds and munched on ice chips until i started pushing. i sent joey home a few times to pick up the camera, shower, eat, and change. at 4pm i was 5cm dilated and the nurse told me that they were going to deliver a baby in another delivery room next door. i wasn't worried since i was only 5cm along. then she came back at 5pm and told me that the baby was pretty much along and i was going to start pushing. very weird feeling since i was numb down there. pushing took alot of energy and i never realized how hard it was going to be. they gave me oxygen since they were worried that the little one wasn't getting any. finally at 5:58pm, he came out and started screaming. the second i saw his little face, all the pain and uncomfortableness disappeared and i started crying. he was the most amazing little person i have ever seen. he came in weighing 7 pounds 6.2 ounces and was 21 inches long. his head was pretty big. 14inches or something. :) once the epidural started to wear off, i realized how much pain i was in down there, especially since i had an episiotomy and i had a headache from everything. joey fed me a little bit of dinner and i realized again how wonderful and loving my husband is. he's the most amazing man ever. i feel very blessed to have our little family together. i am exhausted but exhilarated!
